Almost anytime you open a newspaper or a magazine you will find at least one article related to health care and highlighting changes in the health care insurance reimbursement system. With the growth of managed care plans and efforts to conserve costs and spending, health care concerns are now a permanent fixture in the minds of most Americans.

WBHB&K works with health care professionals and providers and offers them legal counsel for both their personal and business needs. The firm represent a wide range of health care providers, such as hospitals, insurance companies, individual physicians, group medical practices, nursing homes, chiropractors, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and other practitioners. Examples of the areas served include negotiating managed care contracts, hospital privileges, planning trusts and estates, addressing employment issues, handling real estate transactions, and assisting with any other legal matters health care providers may face. The firm is also involved in physician credentialing and privileges and Medicare and Medicaid issues.

The firm also provides specialized services in the areas of tax, Medicare fraud and abuse, Stark legislation (self-referral prohibition), and antitrust. Members of the health care practice section work closely with attorneys in other practice areas to provide complete expertise to their clients. In addition, the firm represents physician groups and provides specialized services to physicians with respect to individual and group practice issues. Some of these services include rendering of legal opinions on a variety of transactions, preparation and review of various types of contracts between institutional providers and physicians, representation regarding credentialing, medical staff bylaws, and staff privileges and related issues.
