| Almost anytime
you open a newspaper or a magazine you will find at least one article related to health
care and highlighting changes in the health care insurance reimbursement system. With the
growth of managed care plans and efforts to conserve costs and spending, health care
concerns are now a permanent fixture in the minds of most Americans. WBHB&K works with health care
professionals and providers and offers them legal counsel for both their personal and
business needs. The firm represent a wide range of health care providers, such as
hospitals, insurance companies, individual physicians, group medical practices, nursing
homes, chiropractors, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and other
practitioners. Examples of the areas served include negotiating managed care contracts,
hospital privileges, planning trusts and estates, addressing employment issues, handling
real estate transactions, and assisting with any other legal matters health care providers
may face. The firm is also involved in physician credentialing and privileges and Medicare
and Medicaid issues.
The firm also provides
specialized services in the areas of tax, Medicare fraud and abuse, Stark legislation
(self-referral prohibition), and antitrust. Members of the health care practice section
work closely with attorneys in other practice areas to provide complete expertise to their
clients. In addition, the firm represents physician groups and provides specialized
services to physicians with respect to individual and group practice issues. Some of these
services include rendering of legal opinions on a variety of transactions, preparation and
review of various types of contracts between institutional providers and physicians,
representation regarding credentialing, medical staff bylaws, and staff privileges and
related issues.
WBHB&K and its attorneys
are members of the National Health Lawyers Association and the American Academy of
