Michael Cohen is an Associate in Winne Banta's litigation department. His practice includes work on a variety of commercial and employment disputes representing both plaintiffs and defendants in the State and Federal Courts in New Jersey and New York. Prior to joining Winne Banta, Mr. Cohen served as a Law clerk to the Hon. Sebastian Gaeta, Jr. in the Superior Court of New Jersey.
Mr. Cohen is active in the local community. He serves as a Board Member of nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of civics education programming for high school aged students, and during his law school career, he worked as a student litigator in the Seton Hall Law School Housing and Homelessness Clinic where he won and award for his outstanding contribution to that organization.
During college and law school, Mr. Cohen also wrote extensively on a variety of legal topics including the efficacy of mandatory minimum and guideline sentencing schemes, New Jersey's 2003 "Drowsy Driver" Law, and a review of the impact of recent broadcast indecency ruling in a paper entitled "Have You No Sense of Decency? An Examination of the Effect of Traditional Values and Family Oriented Organizations on 21st Century Broadcast Indecency Standards," 30 SETON HALL LEGIS .J. 113 (2005).
