Edward p. d'alessio

Edward P. D’Alessio is a Partner with the firm, having been in practice for more than 25 years. He is a member of the firm’s Financial Services Group and the Litigation Department.

Mr. D’Alessio’s financial services practice involves the representation of non-bank financial services firms including check cashers, money transmitters, electronic payment processors, and issuers and sellers of prepaid/stored-value cards, in matters involving licensing, statutory and regulatory compliance, and governmental relations. He regularly handles matters before governmental and regulatory bodies at the federal level and in various states, including the New York State Banking Department and the New Jersey Department of Banking & Insurance.

His government relations practice involves representation of state and national industry trade associations and non-bank financial services firms in Albany, Trenton and Washington, D.C., providing legal and governmental relations support on legislative and regulatory matters.

Mr. D’Alessio also regularly handles commercial (transactional) matters involving financial services firms, including business formations, purchase and sale transactions, financing, contract matters, leases and licensing.

Mr. D’Alessio is also a member of the firm’s Litigation Department. His litigation practice involves the representation of businesses, including non-bank financial services firms and banks, and individuals in all types of commercial litigation, including contract disputes, foreclosures, collections, negotiable instruments/UCC, shareholder actions and employment law. His practice also includes counsel of employers in employer-employee matters including the preparation of employment policies and manuals.
Mr. D’Alessio currently serves as Deputy General Counsel to the Financial Service Centers of America (FiSCA), the national trade association representing check cashers and payday advance lenders. He also serves as Deputy General Counsel to the Financial Service Centers of New York (FSCNY) and New Jersey Financial Service Centers (NJFSC).
Mr. D’Alessio formerly served by appointment of the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Member, Vice-Chair and Chair of District IIB Ethics Committee. He has held other judicial appointments including as Special Master in the matter of In Re Napp Technologies Litigation.
He regularly lectures in the non-bank financial services licensing and compliance area, as well as with respect to employment matters.
